UPD: Deadline for application submission has been extended until October 22.

Applications are now accepted on the Culture Online educational digital project web portal and will last until October 15, 2021. International award Culture Online 2021 is organized by the Russian Culture Fund in cooperation with the directorate of St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

Under the new reality conditions, online formats have acquired a special significance in the context of the development of culture and art. That is why the introduction of digital technologies into the work of cultural institutions is mainly an opportunity to attract a new audience and popularize their activities. In 2021, the award will go to the best cultural projects to be implemented from November 1, 2020, and which were or are carrying out their activities in an online format or use IT technologies. The number of nominations has been increased to seven. It is important to note that the award has acquired the status of an international project this year. The award ceremony will take place on November 13, on the final day of the IX St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

“Culture Online Award is being held for the second year as part of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. This year is special because we have managed to expand the geography, and from now on both Russian and foreign participants can apply. I am sure that this year’s award will bring us many new interesting projects, as well as help to draw attention to initiatives in the online environment,” said the Director General of the Russian Cultural Fund Elena Golovnina.

As part of the “Best Online Project” nomination, a significant project in the area of music, theater or cinema will be announced. “Best Collaboration” is a unique opportunity to present an online cultural project implemented by two or more companies. In the nomination “Best IT solution for the cultural sphere“, professionals will choose the most worthy project implemented with the help of artificial intelligence, VR/AR and other IT technologies. Any blog about art and culture in such social networks as Vkontakte.ru, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Telegram, Twitter can nominate for “Best SMM campaign” category. “Best educational project” nomination plays an important role – an educational project that implements its activities in an online format can become a candidate for the award. A project implemented earlier in offline format but transformed into online one under the pandemic conditions can become a candidate for the award in the nomination “Digital transformation: from offline to online”. “Cultural Gamification” will help determine the best mobile application, computer game, online game in the field of culture.

The purpose of the Culture Online Award is to encourage cultural institutions that actively implement online technologies in their work, as well as significant cultural projects carried out with the help of the latest media tools. Cultural institutions, creative unions, public organizations, associations, bloggers and other organizations that have implemented their cultural projects are invited to nominate their projects. In 2020, 235 works from 43 regions of the Russian Federation were submitted in 5 nominations.  The largest number of applications were submitted for the “Best online project” — a total of 100 works.
