The call for the Culture Online International Award applications ended on October 1, 2023. This year, 300 applications from participants from various cities in Russia and other countries were accepted. Hundreds of cultural institutions, creative unions, bloggers, and organizations compete to win by creating projects in the world of culture and art while incorporating innovative modern technologies. As usual, the most popular nomination category was the Best Education and Outreach Project, which attracted 118 applications.

This year’s participants’ variety of creative approaches and unconventional solutions was exceptional. Submissions included online travel guides and encyclopedias, historical animated series, virtual exhibitions, educational video cycles, podcasts and lectures from museums and bloggers. Many AR/VR technology projects, such as mobile apps and other digital projects in culture and art, were also presented.

Similar to last year, many applications for the Culture Online international award were for online broadcasts of concerts and performances via social networks and online platforms. Vkontakte was the most popular platform among the participants.

Now, for the most exciting part, an expert council headed by Yuri Bashmet violist, conductor, and People’s Artist of the USSR – is already beginning to process and evaluate the applications. The council also included 6 other prominent figures of culture and art of Russia:
