Region: Voronezh, Russia

This unique exhibition features paintings from the Voronezh Museum that were lost during the devastating events of World War II and recreated using AI under the guidance of an experienced art historian.

This is the first project of its kind in Russia. Fourteen iconic paintings from the lost collection were selected for this project, including works by Robert Falk, Natalia Goncharova, Alexander Rodchenko, Vasily Kandinsky, and other avant-garde artists. Initially, SBER's Kandinsky neural network studied the styles and techniques of the authors of these lost paintings. The generation process then began based on textual descriptions from the museum archive. The generated works were analyzed by an art historian from the Voronezh Museum and either accepted or sent for revision. Despite using advanced technology and expert involvement, the "Revived Collection" exhibition remains a hypothesis and experiment attempting to guess what might have been depicted on these war-lost canvases.
