All of Bach’s Cantatas with Roman Nasonov and the Collegium Musicum ensemble

Organized by the Collegium Musicum Charity Foundation, this project impresses with its scale and profound cultural-educational significance. Approximately two hundred of Bach's musical works come to life through performances by the Collegium Musicum ensemble under the careful direction of conductor Oleg Romanenko. Renowned expert in early music Roman Nasonov, associate professor at the Moscow Conservatory, and musicologist Natalia Surnina, who hosts Collegium Musicum concerts, provide professional commentary on individual cantatas. Bach's sacred works have historically received high praise in Russia, becoming a moral compass for many during Soviet times when ideological barriers separated them from religious rites, guiding them towards Christianity and teachings about love for the Divine and true Christian virtues. In modern Russia, Bach's works remain significant for believers, with their revival serving as a key part of national spiritual renewal. Metropolitan Hilarion has repeatedly emphasized Bach's uniqueness and ability to transcend confessional boundaries.
