The first St. Petersburg Creative Festival of Professional Competences #YaARTIST ("I am an artist") was held in spring 2021 in Elena Obraztsova Cultural Centre in two formats — offline and online.
The festival was created to identify and promote the creative potential of talented young musicians starting their professional career.
Festival participants are young people from 22 to 30 years of age, graduates, assistants-trainees and students of creative universities of St. Petersburg: N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, A. I. Gertsen Institute of Music, Theatre and Choreography, St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture, and Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (Department of Musical Theatre). The project was implemented by Elena Obraztsova Cultural Centre using the grant support for youth initiatives provided by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) as part of the competition for physical persons in 2020. The purpose of the festival is adaptation of graduates of creative universities in a turbulent world through the development of administrative, producer and managerial competencies, implementation of creative ideas, establishing new professional relationships, obtaining photo and video materials for promotion.
The festival program includes a series of concerts at Elena Obraztsova Cultural Centre with online broadcasting; motivational session for professional musicians (seminars, lectures, public talk); meetings with members of the Expert Council — leading musicians and managers of concert organizations of St. Petersburg; gala concert of finalists selected by the expert council of the project based on the audience vote in the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace. One of the objectives of the project was to hold an educational part — a motivational session for young musicians (seminars, lectures, creative meetings, etc.) with the involvement of experts — prominent musicians, music managers, producers, and image makers. The next objective is to facilitate implementation of creative ideas through the creation of concert programs. The task of promoting performing arts and introducing new names to the public was solved through online broadcasts on the Internet, which expanded the audience by almost 200 times versus a concert hall.
